WHY DO BABIES LIE
Adam was created in God’s image. (Genesis 1:26) But we were not created in God’s image. We were created in Adam’s image after his sin and downfall. (Genesis 5:3) A person in Adam’s image when left alone as a child or allowed to do as he pleases as a teenage will run amok. He will have the tendency to be violently uncontrollable, undisciplined, with the potential to commit all kinds of hideous, immoral acts and crimes against God and against society. If this depraved nature is not held in check, even the conscience will become desensitized. Social and spiritual vertigo will set in and your decision-making process will become defective. You will not know which why is up. You will have very little direction and purpose in life. You will begin to call right wrong and wrong right. You will begin to call evil good and good evil. You will be able to condone the killing of babies without it bothering you because after all, a woman has the right of choice. What about the right of the child?
When in Adam’s image, it will be easier to be addicted to lust and allergic to God. You will rationalize by calling it human nature. Some people will say, “well, that was just the way I was born.” They are right. We are all born that way. We are not born in God’s image. We are born in Adam’s image. (Genesis 5:3) When in Adam’s image you can lie, slander, curse and even blaspheme God and still feel good about yourself, because the constitution guarantees you freedom of speech. You will be able to abuse the gift of sex, because after all, it is our right, you know! That’s the way God made us!
A very disciplined up-bringing and a sincere commitment to morality will make some young people and some adults very honest and very good people even though they are still in Adam’s image. Some of the best people I know are not Christians. It’s not the abstinence of bad or sin that makes a Christian but the presence of Christ living in us. According to the bible, “in Adam we are all dead (spiritually), but in Christ we are made alive (spiritually). (1 Corinthians 15:22) That is why our dead spirit must be born again. (John 3:3-6) I hear some people say, “I will just let my conscience be my guide.” Your conscience can send you to hell. The only time you can allow your conscience to be your guide is when your conscience has been educated by the word of God. That is the purpose of the law. It does not save anybody. It is an educator. Even after we have been born again by the Holy Spirit, we must educate our conscience. Praise and worship are wonderful, but we must not allow praise and worship to diminish our hunger for and study of the word of God. We must get into God’s word so we can grow. Even a new born baby is a sinner, an innocence sinner, until they reach the age of accountability, but a sinner nevertheless. If you don’t believe babies are sinners, you have never had one. The bible says that even babies go astray and lies. (Psalm 53:3) Why? Because they are sinners in Adam’s image.
You can measure how much faith you have by how much you know of God’s word. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17) We can’t believe God unless we know what He says.
That is one reason during these late years of my life, in addition to winning souls to Christ, God has given me a passion to teach His word. The last few years we have focused on the Book of Revelation. The Book of Revelation has an answer to every question that faces the church today. It lifts up the pastor and encourages God’s people. It teaches more about forgiveness, grace, and mercy than any other book in the bible. It must be important. It is the only book in the bible Jesus signed His name to as the author. I believe that is why Satan does everything he can to keep people from reading and studying the Book of Revelation.
